Fairmount Minerals Case Study

When Bill Conway, the founder of Fairmount Minerals, was evaluating liquidity options, Kirtland was able to structure a partnership arrangement that allowed Bill and the senior management team to achieve partial liquidity while retaining a significant ongoing interest in the business.

During our ownership period, we worked with the management team to complete several acquisitions, manage through a leadership succession, add depth to the senior management team, and help guide the company through a complex exit process, which included the divestiture of certain non-core businesses and the structuring of a creative management buy-out.

We believe the foundation of our successful investment in Fairmount Minerals and the strong personal relationships that we maintain today with members of the Fairmount management team began with the partnership approach that was established with our initial investment and the support we provided during our ownership.
